Organizing a Filipino Seniors Club was an original idea of Beatriz Abuyuan. The difficult task attending to the numerous needs and follow-ups in forming the club was spearheaded by Socorro Trinidad together with Amada de Guzman and Filomena Millano.

On April 9, 1987, the four golden ladies had an audience with the Coordinator of the Seniors Council of Brampton, Mr. Lawrence Bloom, who guided them in formalizing the Club.

On May 2, 1987, the first organizational meeting was held at the Centennial Recreation Center. Free use of the place was made possible thru the courtesy of Ms. Shiela Finn, Manager of Parks and Recreation. In this meeting, an interim set of officers was formed and Ms. Socorro Trinidad was appointed as Chairperson. She was elected eventually as the first president during the first election on December 19, 1987. Ms. Trinidad succeeded by Ms. Remy Malanyaon for an unprecedented and eventful term of eight years from 1988 to 1996. Mr. Ben Ustaris, an active and dynamic member of the Club, succeeded Ms. Malanyaon as 1997–1998 President. Respectable community leader Mr. Vince Vargas promoted a united and respected Filipino-Canadian community during his term from 1999 to 2002. Succeeding Mr. Vargas was Ms. Espie Magaliman from 2001 to 2002.

At this point, it is fitting to pay tribute to our founders and past leaders, who are now with their Creator, for their special efforts to organize and preserve this Club to what it is today.

Presently, we saw an array of energetic leaders who nurtured our Club to become vibrant and at tune with the times. In 2003–2004 Mrs. Del Vargas became the Club President and she continued her husband has started. Mr. Dominador Acosta led the club in 2005–2006, followed by Ms. Aurora Villanueva in 2007 to 2008. After Ms. Villanueva, a stylish and groovy leader, Maria ‘Chary’ Abuyuan led the Club in 2009 to 2010.

Mr. Tim Evangelista, a.k.a. “Mr. Pavarotti of Brampton”, became the Club President from 2011 to 2012. He initiated some amendments to the Club’s Constitution and By-laws and the formal establishment of a Special Bereavement Fund to help the family of our departed members.

In 2013–2014, Ms. Fanny Acosta became the Club President and then she was succeeded by Ms. Adelina Velasco in 2015 until 2016. Then in 2017 BFSC celebrated its 30th anniversary under Mr. Delfin Palileo as President ably assisted by VP Expedito ‘Ed’ Lim, who published the first BFSC Souvenir Album.

The 2 year term of Mr. Peter Dela Cruz which started on 2019 was cut short due to Covid pandemic.

In July 2021, the elder members composed of BFSC past presidents decided to reunite and rejuvenate the club. Mr. Expedito ‘Ed’ Lim, a CPA and former Chief Accountant of the Senate of the Philippines, took the helm as BFSC President in 2022 – 2023. A milestone 35th Founding Anniversary was celebrated in May 2022 with the publication of the 2nd Souvenir Album. During his absence while on vacation, the Board passed a resolution extending his term in view of outstanding performance and leadership. However, President Ed Lim declined the term extension offer as it will violate the BFSC Constitution & Bylaws and for some health reasons in the family.

For the term 2024–2025, Mr. Conrado ‘Totie’ Pabellano was elected president but he served only for a year and relinquished his post in favour of VP Andy Rubiales.

Our current set of officers for 2026–2027 is headed by Ms. Norie Manansala Blohm, who is ably assisted by her Vice President, Mr. Andy Rubiales and other dynamic officers.
